Caroline M. Hewins Medal
The medal honors the legacy of the revolutionary librarian who helped create Hartford Public Library and redefined what a public library could be in America.
It is awarded to an individual or organization that champions the City of Hartford and its people, reimagines public service with a humanistic approach, challenges traditional boundaries, and advocates for equal access to information, learning, and opportunity.
This year the honor will be presented to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for its transformative grantmaking and deep commitment to equity and public service. The award recognizes those who provide revolutionary service to Hartford and champion equal access to opportunity—values that HFPG exemplifies.
